Whoops. Seems like USC coach Steve Spurrier may have spoken too soon in announcing the hiring of Woody McCorvey as a new offensive assistant.
Spurrier in a press release (via The Post and Courier): I acted too hastily in confirming that coach McCorvey would be joining our staff. After thoroughly reviewing the entire situation and all the issues involved, we felt it was best to go to the bowl game with our current staff and add the two new coaches in January.
The problem appears to be a combination of boil down to McCorvey wanting a multi-year contract, and USC only offering a one-year, and Spurrier having a change of hear.
