The Glass Onion restaurant will host a fall tasting dinner with Oregon winemaker Jerry Sass on Tuesday, September 28, from 6 to 10 p.m. This West Ashley restaurant located at 1219 Savannah Highway plans to offer a prix fixe menu paired with Sass’s wines, which he will be on hand to explain. There will be four courses featuring some of the first flavors of autumn, such as local stone crab, heritage pork and North Carolina apple cobbler. These treats will be paired with Sass’s 2007 Pinot Blanc, 2007 Chardonnay and his 2005 Pinot Noir “Vieux Amis”.
The dinner will cost $40 per diner, and the optional wine pairing will cost $25 per diner. Guests can expect time with the winemaker and the opportunity to purchase the featured wines along with his most recent single vineyard pinot noir releases at retail prices.
The full menu can be found at the Glass Onion website – www.ilovetheglassonion.com. The restaurant will close for lunch at 4 p.m. that day to prepare for dinner, which will begin at 6 p.m. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling the Glass Onion at 225-1717.
