Portrait in a Limited Palette: 3 Day Portrait Workshop with Gregory Mortenson
October 15, 16 & 17 / 8am -5pm with an hour lunch break
Cost: $315 Members / $395 Non-Members
Redux Contemporary Art Center is proud to present a three day portrait workshop. Working from a live model, this three day workshop will offer students the chance to develop a single portrait painting in oil. In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of painting the portrait with an emphasis on accurate observation and the Munsell Color System. In color theory the Munsell color system is a color space that specifies colors based on three color dimensions: hue, value (lightness), and chroma (color purity).
The same model and pose will be worked on all three days as students strive to capture the likeness of the model and the effect of light over form. Paint handling and color mixing will be discussed and individual critiques will be offered to help guide the students to meet individual goals.
