The College of Charleston Student Government Association voted 14-8 for the abolition of tobacco-smoking on campus last week.
On the same day C of C's SGA moved to abolish of smoking tobacco on campus, the university's Faculty Senate voted in the opposition.
Concluding in a 15-14 vote against the anti-smoking proposal, Faculty Senate speaker Dr. Lynn Cherry voiced the faculty's collective concern regarding the methods of enforcement the smoking ban may require, as well as its implications on walking and driving traffic throughout C of C's campus and the city as a whole.
