American Craft Beer Week continues this Tuesday at the Charleston Beer Exchange with a very special Rare Beer Tuesday at 5pm featuring Dark Matter from NYC's Brooklyn Brewery.
This latest edition to Brooklyn's Brewmaster's Reserve series is an American Brown Ale aged in and blended from a number of different barrels. Here is a quick explanation from the brewery, by way of the CBX blog:
Brooklyn Dark Matter is a robust brown ale aged for four months in bourbon and rye whiskey barrels. Some barrels previously held Black Ops, some hosted The Manhattan Project, others came straight from the distilleries as soon as the whiskey was decanted. These barrels were blended to create a beer full of caramel and chocolate flavors heightened by vanilla-like oak notes and hints of the barrels’ previous tenants.
We're looking at 7.5% ABV, a B+ from BeerAdvocate, and a 97 from Ratebeer. As is sometimes the case with the beeracle workers at CBX, this is the only keg in SC, so you better strike while the iron is hot (and dark)!
