Get ready for masquerades, street parades, steelpan bands, cultural dancers, a limbo contest, a Caribbean marketplace, and loads more with the return of Charleston Carifest.
The festival is a celebration of Caribbean American heritage and you can get in on the action on Friday at a Masquerade Fete or on Saturday during the Carnival Street Parade and Caribbean Carnival Celebration at Brittlebank Park.
Below is a bit more on Saturday's events:
The Carnival Street Parade is set for 3 p.m. Parade Route starts at the Visitor’s Center on Ann Street, travels up King Street to Sumter Street, Congress and Hagood then finishes along Fishburne Street on the way in to Brittle Bank Park. View the splendor of the Caribbean with colourful Revelers in beautiful costumes dancing to the beat of Reggae and Soca music through the streets on their way to Brittle Bank Park.
The Finale Caribbean Carnival Celebration in the Park will run from 2 - 9 p.m. The Caribbean culture display will include steel bands, reggae/soca music, Caribbean dancers, Indian dancers, Caribbean food, drink and crafts.
