Update March 4: The link to the whole letter posted before was broken — you can read it at The Island Packet at this link.
First reporting: Gary Kubic, a Beaufort County administrator, wrote a letter March 1 to Nikki Haley asking for her to support his efforts for greater transparency for Government employees, The Island Packet is reporting.
Kubic wants a review of the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act so that the salary of all Government employees can be released to the public upon request. As it stands now, the current law allows only the records of state-paid employees earning over $50,000 to be released upon request. Doing so, he argues, would eliminate a gray area that is often left to the interpretation of state officials.
