WTOC are remembering the tragic death of 13-year-old Beaufort County girl Laurian Baaske in a feature story Wednesday, May 25 that highlights the dangers of games such kids are playing nowadays.
Baaske died from what is commonly referred to as the "choking game," which involves a teenager strangling themselves in an effort to maintain a brief high. WTOC report that the game is not only obviously dangerous, but also more common amongst teens then one might expect, especially amongst high achieving and productive youths.
