If you have a fondness of boat rides and Lowcountry lore, consider making a trip out to the first "Combahee River Boat Tour & Picnic at Twickenham Plantation Dock" on October 9 and 10 (Saturday, Sunday.)
The event is centered around half-hour rides on a 40-foot pontoon boat that leave the top of each hour from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. The ride will be narrated and offers a chance to see various wildlife and possibly endangered birds.
The event also includes a small lunch to be served on the dock side of the event.
Cost is $60 in advance (charge card, cash, or check) and $70 day of (cash, check only.) Reserve a ticket by calling (843) 441-7402. Proceeds benefit the Yemassee Revitalization Corporation.

Combahee River Boat Tour & Picnic at Twickenham Plantation Dock - October 9 - 10, 2010
Tickets are now on sale
for the Combahee River Boat Tour & Picnic fundraiser to be held at
the Twickenham Plantation dock in Yemassee on Saturday, October 9th and Sunday, October 10th.
The ½ hour boat rides will operate at the top of the hour 11 am – 4 pm
each day. Captain Stan and Captain Charles of Ace Basin Tours will be
operating the 40-foot pontoon boat. Never before has such a tour of the
Combahee River in Yemassee been offered. On the narrated tour, guests
will enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Combahee River, a wide
assortment of wildlife, including possible sightings of various
endangered bird species, and glimpses of some river plantation homes.
Feel free to bring your binoculars and cameras.
tickets are $60. Day of tickets will cost $70, while supplies last.
Sales are limited, so act quickly to guarantee a reservation. We expect
a sell-out! Ticket cost includes a ½-hour narrated round-trip boat
ride on a 40’ covered pontoon boat, a complimentary soft drink, beer or
wine and a light lunch that will be served at the Twickenham Plantation
river dock. The event runs rain or shine.
Lunch is included in the
cost of the ticket, and will include chicken bog, hot dogs and a snack
for dessert. Guests will receive one complimentary beverage (water,
soft drink, beer or wine). Additional beverages can be purchased for $2
each. Only cash or check can be accepted the day of the event. Coozies & wine glasses, while supplies last, will also be available
Guests should arrive and
check in at the registration table at least 30 minutes prior to their
boat’s scheduled departure time. At check-in, guests will receive their
boat, beverage and lunch passes. Guests are welcome to come early and
linger past their boat ride to enjoy the river view. There will be
attendants to assist with parking. Guests can walk the short distance
to the dock or hop a ride on a golf cart that will be available.
Guests should dress for
the outdoors, wearing comfortable shoes. This is a rain or shine
event. There is a cover on the boat, and in the event of rain, there
will be a tent set up to serve lunch.
Tickets must be reserved
for a specific tour time and date. Boat rides depart promptly at 11:00
am, noon, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm each day. Contact the

MasterCard, checks and cash are accepted.
